Fireman refused compensation over football injury

Fireman refused compensation over football injury
A fireman who suffered a fractured leg during a match of football has failed in his bid to win compensation.

David Sharpe was playing for the Highland and Islands Fireboard against Scottish Fire Engines College when a tackle from a colleague caused the break.

Mr Sharpe initially sought to claim damages from his employers at an earlier hearing in 2005, but had his case dismissed by the presiding judge.

His subsequent appeal has now been rejected as well.

Lord Johnston is quoted by the BBC as having refused Mr Sharpe's appeal after finding that the previous judge had "reached a conclusion that he was entitled to achieve on the material before him".
