Dieselgate: Five reasons you should join the legal action against VW over the emissions scandal.

By Solicitor (Foreign Qualified), Group Litigation

Five reasons why you should join the claim:

Keeping VW Honest

VW have admitted to deceiving their customers and have paid out over $14 billion in the US in criminal and civil charges. In England and Wales, they refuse to admit they did anything wrong. It is disappointing that VW have paid out to drivers in the United States and other countries, but English and Welsh drivers are being ignored. As VW will not voluntarily compensate its customers who purchased their affected vehicles in England and Wales, it’s important to hold VW to account by joining the Group Litigation claim.

Health

Every year in England and Wales thousands of people, mostly elderly and vulnerable, die of diesel emissions poisoning. VW cheated on the emissions tests and knowingly put people’s health in danger by exposing people to illegal levels toxic NOx. In doing so, VW has shown a disregard for people’s health and the law in order to make a quick profit. Joining our claim will send a message to large corporations that they can no longer harm people’s health with impunity.

The Environment

We have environmental protections for a reason. Keeping our air clean is important part of protecting the environment from the effects of climate change. It is unacceptable for VW to lie to regulators and consumers about the nature of their cars’ environmental impact and fit ‘emissions cheating’ software into their cars so that they can cheat on the emissions tests. Joining our claim will make sure that car manufacturers like VW keep the environment at the forefront of their minds when developing new vehicles.

It’s simple and easy

There is no cost to join the claim and all you have to do is fill out the form on our website. We are proud to offer our clients the chance to hold VW to account on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. Additionally our claim is fully funded by a litigation funder and our clients benefit from an indemnity thus protecting them from the possibility of having to pay VW’s cost if the claim is lost... VW has shown no willingness to pay its customers fair compensation, so the only way to hold them to account is to join the claim. This was done successfully in other countries where VW has paid out billions in compensation to drivers.

You deserve it

When you buy a car that the manufacturer claims to be compliant with emissions regulations you deserve to get what you paid for. The right thing for VW to do is to pay you back for the money you’ve lost as a result of the deceit they inflicted on you and millions of others when selling you a car that was far more polluting that they represented.

If your car is manufactured by Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT or Škoda and it is:

  • a 1.2, 1.6, or 2.0 litre diesel vehicle;
  • made between 2008 and 2015, and;
  • you purchased, leased or acquired it (new or second hand) before 1st of January 2016

You may be eligible to take legal action.

You may also be eligible to make a claim if you purchased your vehicle in any of the following ways:

  • Outright Cash Purchase
  • Personal Loan
  • Personal Contract Plan (‘PCP’)
  • Lease Purchase
  • Hire Purchase
  • Finance Lease
  • Contract Hire
