Why Health Conscious DIY Can Save Lives
With an industry worth billions it’s clear Brits love DIY, but what hidden costs could we be paying? We’ve launched the #HealthandHome campaign to promote safe DIY across the UK.
We’re fearless with our paintbrushes, drills and sandpaper, but how often do we stop and think about opening a window before we paint? Or wearing a dust mask before starting on our latest upcycling project?
23% of Brits are planning a DIY project in the New Year, but new research carried out by Slater and Gordon’s industrial disease experts reveals that 48% are unconcerned by hidden health risks linked to DIY. That's why we have created a guide about the risks in your home and how to stay safe.
With years of knowledge about the consequences of hidden health risks behind us, we’ve launched an initiative to spread awareness about #HealthandHome. We specialise in helping people who have been exposed to asbestos, which can lead to mesothelioma, and are using our knowledge to help raise awareness of this and other dangers in our homes.
Check out our guide for fascinating DIY facts, tips on reducing risk in your home and what to do if you’re facing the reality of mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure.
Do you have safe DIY tips to share? Do have simple ways to reduce risk in your home? Do you want to know more about asbestos or mesothelioma? Join us on Twitter or Facebook and get talking with us about #HealthandHome.
For further advice on claiming for mesothelioma compensation, call Slater and Gordon on freephone 0800 916 9046 or contact us online.
