Travel Lawyers Investigate Illness Outbreak at Holiday Village in Tenerife
Slater and Gordon holiday illness lawyers are currently investigating an illness outbreak at the Holiday Village in Costa Los Gigantes, Tenerife.
Our team of travel claims lawyers are instructed by six people who have allegedly fallen ill at the resort, caused by an outbreak of cryptosporidium.
Cryptosporidium is a parasite that can cause respiratory and bowel-related illnesses including gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
If you have been affected by an outbreak of illness in Costa Los Gigantes, Tenerife, you should seek legal advice on how to claim compensation for any medical costs incurred.
The Sun recently reported that dozens of Brits had been struck down with the diarrhoea bug at the First Choice Tenerife resort.
A spokeswoman for First Choice told The Sun: “We’re sorry to hear that a small number of customers staying at the Holiday Village in Tenerife have reported feeling unwell.
“As a result we are working with the hotel and local authorities who have taken the decision to close the pools while an investigation is carried out.
"We are concerned by the reports that this sickness may have been caused by the actions of other guests.
“While incidents of this nature are very rare, we take a zero tolerance approach to this type of behaviour and anybody found to be doing this deliberately will be asked to leave the hotel."
Making a Holiday Illness Claim
Group holiday food poisoning compensation claims are common as often the bacteria are easily transported from one person to another in close proximity. For more information on this see our previous blog, here.
Many holidaymakers and travellers involved in an accident overseas are unaware that they can pursue a compensation claim in the UK. If you have been affected by an outbreak of illness in Costa Los Gigantes, Tenerife or anywhere overseas, you should seek legal advice on how to claim compensation for any medical costs incurred.
If you believe you have fallen ill as a result of food poisoning from a hotel abroad but are unsure whether you can claim or what a claim involves, see our blog, How a Holiday Food Poisoning Claim Works.
