Female Cyclist Killed in London Lorry Accident

A cyclist was tragically killed this morning in a road traffic accident with a lorry in London.

The accident occurred during the busy commute to work this morning. The cyclist, a woman in her 30s, was knocked down by a lorry on Bethune Road, Hackney at the Amhurst Park junction.

Witnesses to the tragic event said the cyclist was alongside the lorry as it made a turn and she was dragged beneath the lorry whilst traffic was moving at around 5mph. She was fatally injured in the accident and died at the scene.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer and cyclist Deborah Johnson said, “I was deeply saddened by today’s tragic news of a cyclist killed in London this morning. Our thoughts are with her family and those witnesses to this terrible accident.

“Sadly fatal cycling accidents are not entirely rare, and often it’s the case that the psychological wellbeing of the people involved can be overlooked. As always, we implore cyclists and drivers alike to take extra care and awareness of cyclists in busy traffic to avoid future road traffic accident tragedies such as this.”
