Julian Cason: Asbestos issues have once again regretfully been in the news.

By Associate, Personal Injury

Asbestos issues have once again regretfully been in the news. The Health and Safety Executive prosecuted a Welsh firm after it's workers were potentially exposed to asbestos fibres during refurbishment work that took place in Swansea. J C Irvine Limited were reportedly fined £12000 and ordered to pay costs for inappropriately carrying out the work in such a way as to ensure it's employees were not exposed to asbestos. Sadly far too many workers continue to give accounts of decades of earlier unprotected exposure, which has led directly to the asbestos illnesses that they suffer from today. These issues are well known. However cases like the above show that vigilance is still very much needed, and that we are many years from asbestos ceasing to be a potential hazard in the workplace, and a later cause of some truly devastating medical conditions.Julian Cason is a solicitor in Personal Injury in the Cardiff office of Russell Jones & Walker. If you or a member of your family has suffered an accident or injury call our expert personal injury solicitors on 0800 916 9046, fill in our short online claim form or email enquiries@rjw.co.uk and one of our specialist personal injury team will review your compensation claim for free.
