Ivor is an employment lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
He has experience in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and advises senior executives, senior medical professionals, professional performers and sports professionals.
During his career he has represented claimants in large and complex whistleblowing claims, pay and contractual disputes, TUPE claims, unfair dismissal and discrimination claims.
He has also handled bonus claims, restrictive covenant matters, permanent health insurance disputes and advised in arbitration proceedings.
Ivor has advised in a number of high profile cases and has considerable experience of dealing with both major High Court disputes and significant employment tribunal matters.
Many of the cases Ivor has dealt with recently are very high value, involve sensitive reputational issues and set national precedents.
For example, Ivor acted for the group of musicians who, in a ground-breaking claim, sought an injunction to require the National Theatre to engage them to play their instruments in the production of War Horse, when they were dismissed [Ashworth & Ors v The Royal National Theatre  EWHC 1176]. The case had significant legal implications and received considerable national coverage in the press.
Ivor advises both senior executives in the private sector and trade unions and their members.
He has experience of advising health professionals and senior executives in substantial and complex claims against the NHS, and in relation to breaches of the MHPS, which remains a particular focus.
His practice also encompasses professional negligence claims against firms of solicitors and other advisors, arising from poor advice on employment law issues. In addition, he has experience in handling stress claims for senior executives.
Ivor also has a sports law practice and has acted for International, Premiership and a number of Championship football managers.
Many of the cases Ivor is involved in settle out of court or at some form of alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation.
He has a renowned steady hand in handling complex and combative litigation and in resolving disputes on excellent and often creative terms.
Ivor is head of the employment team’s major litigation group.
