Did you know?

Knutsford’s legal significance dates back to 1575. In this year, the first Quarter Sessions took place in Knutsford’s Market Place, before moving to the town’s Canute Square.

The courts of quarter sessions were local courts traditionally held at four set times each year by a justice of the peace. The sessions aimed to hear criminal charges, civil disputes, and criminal appeals for the county and surrounding areas.
