What is the Woodford Equity Income Fund claim?

Our collective actions team is investigating possible claims against Link Fund Solutions Ltd in respect of its management and oversight ove the Woodford Equity Income Fund. We're also considering possible claims against Hargreaves Lansdown, which promoted the Woodford Equity Income Fund.

Why are we intending to pursue Link Fund Solutions Ltd?

Link was and is the Authorised Corporate Director of the Woodford Equity Income Fund. While it delegated investment management functions to Woodford Investment Management, it nevertheless retained significant and extensive regulatory obligations relating to the investments held by the Fund.

We’re investigating if Link fulfilled these regulatory obligations and if not, whether this caused the failure of the Woodford Equity Income Fund. The Financial Conduct Authority is likewise investigating the role played by Link in the demise of the Fund.

Why are we also investigating Hargreaves Lansdown?

Hargreaves Lansdown promoted the Woodford equity income fund via its Wealth 150 and later Wealth 50 “Best Buy” lists.

The “Best Buy” Lists are a shortlist of Hargraves Lansdown’s favourite funds, which it promotes as being rigorously tested.

Despite ongoing concerns about the growing number of investments in small and unlisted companies by the Woodford Equity Income Fund, Hargreaves Lansdown continued to promote the Woodford Equity Income Fund on their “Best Buy” Lists until the Fund was eventually suspended.

It appears that thousands of investors invested in and remained invested in the Woodford Equity Income Fund precisely because it was included on these “Best Buy” lists.

We’re considering whether the Best Buy lists were misleading and if so, whether there’s any actionable wrongdoing on the part of Hargreaves Lansdown.

Where are our investigations up to with the Woodford Equity Income Fund?

We're at an advanced stage and have appointed a senior barrister and financial experts to ensure that we have the best legal and financial expertise and advice as we press forward.

Who’s affected?

We're investigating claims by anyone who invested in the Woodford Equity Income Fund and suffered a capital loss.

Investors who meet the claim criteria, regardless of the investment platform they used, are eligible to sign-up with us.

Those investors who used Hargreaves Landsdown to invest may have additional claims against Hargreaves Landsdown, which we're considering.
