Get to know Tim

I am a solicitor and have worked in the fields of personal injury and clinical negligence for my entire career in the law. I have held the position of Partner or Director since 2004. I joined Slater and Gordon in August 2024 as a Principal Lawyer and I work in the London office.

I am a clinical negligence specialist with particular interest in acquired brain injury in children and adults, spinal cord injury, amputations, fatal accident claims and misdiagnosis claims. I have significant experience acting for clients who have suffered life changing injuries due to surgical errors.

I also work as a Professional Deputy for clients who lack capacity to manage their own affairs. This includes Personal Welfare and Property and Financial Affairs Deputyship.

Career highlights

I am passionate about helping injured people get the rehabilitation they need following a life changing event. It is that early intervention that can make a huge difference in the recovery process and helping injured people and their families rebuild their lives. In the clinical negligence field, I have acted for clients and families who have suffered life changing injuries in NHS and private medical settings.

I have acted for many clients and their families who have suffered life changing birth injuries such as cerebral palsy, misdiagnosis claims resulting in amputation, other life changing injuries and death. I have acted for many clients who suffered terrible injuries due to a defective prosthesis being fitted including hip, knee and breast implants. Most of my professional deputyship clients have been the victim of birth injury clinical negligence.

In the personal injury field, I have acted for many clients who have suffered life changing injuries. A few examples include, acting for families in the Clapham Rail Disaster, for a crew member onboard a cruise ship following an attack by Somali Pirates, for a child who sustained serious injury consuming mouthwash which resulted in a major supermarket fitting childproof caps, for 50 passengers onboard a tourist boat who suffered serious injuries when the boat was struck by a military vessel and many motorcycle riders who have suffered life changing injuries or died following crashes.

In the industrial disease field, I have acted for many victims of asbestos exposure primarily mesothelioma. One notable case went to the Court of Appeal (McIntyre v Harland and Wolff).

Recognition

I have been ranked for the last 10 years in Chambers legal directory. I was part of the team at DocBike recognized at the Prince Michael of Kent International Road Safety Awards 2022.

The charity works to reduce motorcycle deaths and serious injuries.

I have held Senior Litigator status at APIL.

The extra mile

I am a trustee of the DocBike charity which is committed to reducing deaths and serious injuries of motorcyclists. Over the years I have taken part in many fund-raising events for charities and other good causes. I have twice slept out in mid-winter in a cardboard box to raise funds for YMCA to help homeless people. I organised a kayak event to raise funds for Child Brain Injury Trust. I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
