Baby suffered serious brain injury at birth causing cerebral palsy
Our client was subjected to a number of failures by hospital staff when she was born including a delay in delivery and failures to act upon mistakes that’d been made, which resulted in brain damage.
19 September 2019
As a result, our client suffered severe cerebral palsy resulting in spastic quadriplegia with a speech impediment and severe restrictions on mobility requiring constant care.
We were contacted by our client’s parents to start a medical negligence claim. We gathered all the necessary evidence to build a case of negligence and some months after, fault was admitted. We secured a substantial interim payment for our client to enable her access to treatment and specialist equipment to assist with daily tasks and activities.
Before the trial was due to take place, negotiations resulted in the case settling out of court for a lump sum of £4,145,000 plus periodical payments totalling in excess of £18 million.
This money will enable our client to live as independent a life as possible with all the care, rehabilitation and specialist equipment she needs.
