When *Jessica's mother was giving birth, there were several medical failings by hospital staff which resulted in Jessica suffering a serious brain injury. As a result, Jessica now suffers with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is the term used to describe several neurological conditions which can occur before, during or shortly after birth as a result of an injury to the brain.

As Jessica developed, it became apparent that her cerebral palsy was quite serious and meant that she required around the clock care. She has spastic quadriplegia with a speech impediment and severe restrictions on mobility.

Jessica's parents contacted us to enquire about making a medical negligence claim on behalf of their daughter and one of our specialist medical negligence lawyers met the family. After hearing the full extent of Jessica's injuries, they were able to gather all the necessary information and immediately began working on the case.

A few months later, fault was admitted by the hospital where Jessica was born and we were able to secure a substantial interim payment. This was extremely important for Jessica as it enabled her to access private treatment, rehabilitation and specialist equipment to assist her with daily tasks and activities.

Before the trial was due to take place, we negotiated an out of court settlement on behalf of Jessica for a lump sum of £4,145,000 plus periodical payments (regular payments made throughout Jessica's life) totalling in excess of £18 million.

The family were overwhelmed with the result and relieved that they now have the support they need to help Jessica to live as independent a life as possible with all the care, rehabilitation and specialist equipment she needs.
