Five-figure settlement for cycling injury in Italy
28 July 2017
A British holidaymaker received a five-figure settlement when she was injured by a driver while cycling in Italy.
What happened: Our client fractured her pelvis after being cut up by a car while on a cycling holiday in the Italian Lakes region. The defendant veered across her path as she was riding around a roundabout, forcing her to swerve and fall from her bike.
Impact: Our client suffered a fractured pelvis.
How Slater and Gordon helped: We brought a claim against the defendant’s Italian insurers, via their English counterparts. Medical evidence was obtained and we used our expertise in cross border jurisdictional matters to value the claim under Italian law. The claim was settled without the need for court proceedings.
