16 March 2016

hotel resort food poisoning compensation

Holidaymaker awarded compensation for ankle and wrist injuries following slip and fall accident at the Grupotel Santa Eularia resort in Ibiza.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Darren Dyke is a personal injury lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers specialising in travel law.

Settlement: £7,500

What Happened: Our client booked a holiday in Ibiza with Thomson’s Holidays, staying at the Grupotel Santa Eularia resort.

She entered the hotel restaurant and chose her food from the self-service food area, and as she walked around a round table which had a long tablecloth covering it, she slipped outwards falling on her left side.

Holding out her left hand to break the fall, she immediately felt pain in her hand as she hit the floor, also suffering immediate pain in her left ankle as it twisted.

After her fall, our client found she had slipped on food which had been dropped and not cleared by the hotel staff.

Impact: Sprain to ankle and wrist.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We brought a claim on behalf of our client, arranged for medical examinations/evidence, investigated our client’s claim for a loss of earnings – the defendant failed to respond in regard to liability, we therefore made a Part 36 offer to the defendant to settle the claim.

Decision: Negotiated a settlement of £7,500.
