£500,000 Compensation Awarded for Ski Accident Injuries on Holiday
04 March 2015
Slater and Gordon Travel Litigation Lawyer, Paul McClorry, has secured over half a million pounds in compensation for a man injured during a skiing holiday in France.
Paul’s client was participating in a novice ski lesson when he was approached at speed by another skier who subsequently collided with him. As a result of the accident, Paul’s client suffered a number of injuries including facial numbness, double vision, weakness of his left eye, scarring and a brain injury with post traumatic amnesia which lasted for a number of days. Paul’s client also suffered from fatigue, poor concentration and headaches after physical or academic activity as a result of the brain injury.
Paul’s client was studying at university at the time of the accident and his studies and career were significantly affected as a result of his injuries. Paul’s client’s qualification into his chosen career was delayed by at least two years and the chances of practising within that career, with the injuries sustained, was estimated at only 25%.
Although full details of the effect of the injuries on the client’s future career were unclear, Paul successfully negotiated a settlement for his client’s skiing accident claim, securing him over half a million pounds in compensation.
Paul is delighted that his client has secured a settlement, which would have been more had it not been for his client’s determination to complete his university degree despite the injuries he suffered, in particular, the brain injury.
