Compensation for Engineer's Asbestos Exposure
28 July 2010
Our client was an engineer with the CEGB, later Powergen, and EOn Ltd, based at various Power stations in the North West. He was exposed to asbestos from 1954 onwards, and retired in 1991. He was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in December 2005, after previously being given the all clear by those treating him. He was understandably devastated. His concern was always for the future financial welfare of his wife. He had the benefit of a £40,000 interim payment during his lifetime, but gave instructions that his claim be concluded after his death. Sadly he passed away in and his widow resumed his case. We negotiated a settlement of £280,000 to provide a secure future for her.
