Termination of partnership

14 January 2010

We advised a structured credit specialist who was a partner in a hedge fund LLP in a dispute with the LLP over its notice to terminate his partnership interest owing to alleged underperformance. This dispute centred around the payment of his bonus and the realisation of the value of his share in the partnership, which the LLP was arguing were forfeit in the event of the termination. Through negotiation we were able to secure a release for the client that included the full value of his partnership share and payment of a prior bonus, which was worth more than what was initially offered, by a six-figure sum.
