DIY workers facing redundancy
A group of professionals in the East Anglia retail sector may require expert employment law advice after it emerged they are facing redundancy.
According to the Bury Free Press, Godfrey DIY has admitted it will have to implement a raft of job cuts in order to secure its future as it continues to struggle financially in the aftermath of the global economic slump.
Consequently, around 50 members of staff at the company's branches in Norwich, Diss and Combs Ford could now be made redundant, with formal consultations with employees having already got underway.
Barry Godfrey, managing director of the firm, told the news source it is "inevitable" that some roles will be shed due to the fact the home improvement industry has been particularly hard hit by the recession.
"In common with most businesses … we are constantly reviewing how we can operate more efficiently," the official went on to say.
