Sam Allardyce is set to seek compensation on the grounds of defamation from fellow football manager Steve Kean, it has emerged today (May 15th).
This comes after a video of current Blackburn Rovers manager Kean speaking with a small group of supporters about his predecessor Allardyce while on a pre-season tour of Hong Kong in July 2011 was posted on YouTube last night.
During the clip - which was secretly filmed by one of the fans - Kean labels Allardyce, who was fired by the club's Indian owners Venky's, a "crook" and appears to be critical of his management style.
Kean replaced Allardyce at Ewood Park in December 2010 after a period as his assistant manager and indicates he felt that his hard work in this position was not appreciated.
Following the release of this four-minute video, Allardyce - whose current team West Ham United face Blackpool in the Championship play-off final on Saturday - has decided to take legal action against Kean.
