Family to seek damages for fatal accident?
Personal injury compensation may be sought by the family of a surveyor who died during a fatal accident at work.
Richard Craddock passed away at the age of 38 in April 2008 when he was run over by a reversing lorry while working on a project to widen the M25 near Dartford.
Mr Craddock was talking on his mobile phone at the time of the accident and failed to hear the truck approaching from behind due to the noise of traffic from the motorway.
Consequently, his family may decided to take legal action against Mr Craddock's employer - Costain, a firm with around 3,000 employees - after an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found the company failed to make sure pedestrian walkways and roads were properly separated.
Melvyn Stancliffe of the HSE said this "terrible tragedy" could have been "easily avoided" had Costain implemented "basic safety precautions".
