Fatal accident to lead to damages?

Fatal accident to lead to damages?
Personal injury compensation may be sought by a family after a loved one passed away during a fatal accident at work.

Steven Allen died in March 2007 at the age of 23 from severe crush injuries he sustained while working for construction company JN Bentley - a firm based in Skipton with more than 500 employees - on a project in Manningham.

At the time of the incident, Mr Allen was part of a team tasked with moving bags of cement alongside his colleagues at the site when the grab machine they were using to move pallets of the material clamped on to his head.

Mr Allen passed away the day after the accident and an investigation established that the machinery in question was being used improperly for this task.

JN Bentley has now admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, meaning the man's family could now opt to pursue a damages claim.
