Son wins unfair dismissal case against father
A son has won a tribunal based on unfair dismissal against his father and has also been awarded compensation.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Andrew Gregor worked alongside his dad Laszlo for nearly 20 years as they created and managed their City Neon Sign Company, but the older man relieved his son from his duties as a director of the firm last November.
This resulted in Mr Gregor taking his father to a tribunal after being sacked for allegedly drinking excessive amounts of alcohol on his lunch break and also taking too much time off on sick leave.
The 45-year-old told the news source he is likely to now lose his home because he cannot afford to keep up with the mortgage payments as he has no regular income.
In a similar instance, the Warrington Guardian reported recently that Justin Williams won a claim of unfair dismissal against his brother Jason after being made redundant from his job as a director at Lasertech UK.
