The number of medical negligence claims being made in the UK may continue to rise in the near future, if a new study on the state of the nation's cosmetic surgery sector is to be believed.
According to the On The Face Of It report, which was conducted by a number of experts from the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD), less than half - 44 per cent - of all practices offering this sort of surgery had a theatre which is fully-equipped to undertake cosmetic surgery.
Meanwhile, the research by the NCEPOD - which is a body established in 1982 to review the standard of care offered to surgical patients of all descriptions - also found that routine psychological evaluation before carrying out these operations were conducted in 35 per cent of clinics, with professional clinical psychologists taking this action in four per cent of these respondents.
