Parents accept compensation after daughter left paralysed
The parents of a girl who suffered serious spinal injuries in an accident have accepted a payout of £300,000, it has been revealed.
According to reports in the East Anglian Daily Times, Zoe Talbot - who is now 14 years old - was playing with a friend outside a neighbour's home in the Suffolk market town of Hadleigh when she was crushed by a falling concrete porch.
As a result of the incident, which happened in September 2004, Zoe was told she will spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.
Owners of the property the Sanctuary Housing Association made an offer to settle the case, which has now been accepted by the girl's parents Robert and Amanda Talbot.
According to the family's legal representative, the cash will be used to fund the purchase and adaption of a property that is suitable for Zoe's needs.
