Bradford Bulls considering legal action against magazine in libel case

Rugby league team Bradford Bulls are considering taking legal action against the TV Times, it has been revealed.

The Grattan stadium-based club and its hooker Terry Newton claim that an article, which appeared in a recent issue of the magazine, was libellous.

In the story, it was suggested that Newton had been banned from playing rugby for 20 months after he failed a drugs test.

Commenting on the issue, Bradford's chairman Peter Hood said: "As far as I can see, it is a straightforward libel in that it is an incorrect statement about our player."

He added that the description of Terry as guilty of the drugs offence is "completely untrue and factually incorrect".

Meanwhile, the TV Times responded by saying that it was not aware of a complaint concerning the article but would take such a complaint "very seriously", the Guardian reports.
