Senior health worker accuses NHS trust of racial discrimination
An assistant director of nursing is taking a hospital trust to an employment tribunal over alleged racial discrimination, the News & Star reports
Serena Saiger has launched legal proceedings against North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which is headquartered in Carlisle.
The Employment Tribunal Offices in Newcastle has confirmed that the employee has launched a claim, although the exact details have not yet been made public.
Commenting on the case, a spokeswoman for the trust said: "A myriad of complaints have been brought against numerous individuals in the organisation by Ms Saiger.
"The claim is strenuously denied by the trust and each of the individuals concerned. It will not be appropriate to comment further until these proceedings have concluded."
Meanwhile, a case management hearing is due to take place next week, during which a decision will be taken as to whether to proceed to a public hearing.
