Compensation offered to holidaymakers caught in typhoon
A British couple have been offered $250 (£126) and a 50 per cent reduction in the cost of their next holiday after their cruise ship got caught in a typhoon.
Jos Taylor and his partner Jo McCall were on board the Sapphire Princess, a three-year-old cruise ship, as it sailed through the Far East when the weather turned, the Times & Star reports.
Weather conditions had taken a turn for the worse three days into the cruise, which was destined for China via a number of other locations.
The pair said that they had been "thrown around like a cardboard box" in their room on board the ship as a result of the weather conditions.
Mr Taylor added: "It was so bad … everything in the wardrobe was being flung about. It was terrifying. The captain said he'd never seen anything like it in 40 years at sea."
