Bereaved father offered compensation

Bereaved father offered compensation
The father of the man found dead in entertainer Michael Barrymore's swimming pool six years ago has been offered compensation.

Stuart Lubbock was discovered in the pool following a party and a subsequent inquest recorded an open verdict as to the cause of his death.

In a recent development, his Father Terry Lubbock has been awarded a pay out of £6,800. The payment is to be made by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

Commenting on the offer, Mr Lubbock said: "I am delighted by the news. I'll put the money into the fighting fund for Stuart."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the CICA added that, in order to make a payment, the authority has to be satisfied that, "on the balance of probabilities", a violent crime has occurred.

Established in 1964, CICA is a non-departmental public body that exists to manage and advise the criminal injuries compensation scheme in the UK.
