Support for People with Cancer and Victims of Exposure to Asbestos
Macmillan Cancer Support has revealed that 80% of people in the UK who have cancer do not receive any kind of formal support.
The cancer charity warned that 160,000 people are housebound due to cancer with around 100,000 of these unable to wash or dress themselves.
Macmillan Chief Executive Lynda Thomas said, “Sadly the health and social care systems are too often failing to provide people with basic support”.
Many people living with cancer are unaware of the support available to them and this needs to change.
Did you know that most people who have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma are entitled to claim benefits in addition to making a civil compensation claim for mesothelioma from the employer who was linked to their Asbestos exposure, even if the company has since gone out of business?
Each year in the UK, over 2,500 people are diagnosed with Mesothelioma. Over 80% of people who contract Mesothelioma have worked in industry or with Asbestos dust and fibres.
At Slater and Gordon we have a dedicated team of specialist lawyers who can assist mesothelioma sufferers and their families in securing the compensation they are due to assist them with buying aids and equipment, specialist care and financial security for their loved ones.
