Support for People with Cancer and Victims of Exposure to Asbestos
Macmillan Cancer Support has revealed that 80% of people in the UK who have cancer do not receive any kind of formal support.
The cancer charity warned that 160,000 people are housebound due to cancer with around 100,000 of these unable to wash or dress themselves.
Macmillan Chief Executive Lynda Thomas said, “Sadly the health and social care systems are too often failing to provide people with basic support”.
Many people living with cancer are unaware of the support available to them and this needs to change.
