Dangerous Faulty Products are in British Homes
A report has come out that states that faulty appliances put one in seven homes at risk of fire and that around 3.6 million defective electrical appliances are currently in British homes.
Over the past four years manufacturers have tried to recall around four million faulty hairdryers, washing machines, mobile phone chargers, and numerous other electrical items. But many people still have these products in their homes as companies failed to alert them or they ignored the warnings.
Registered UK Charity, The Electrical Safety Council informs that millions of households are at risk of Faulty Product Injuries that can cause electric shocks, wounds, and even fires.
There is a defective products register listed on the Electrical Safety First website that the charity urges people to check to see if they have a potentially dangerous appliance in their home.
It’s not just faulty electrical items that can cause injury. Slater and Gordon Lawyers were successful in securing compensation for children injured by Maclaren Baby Buggies due to a dangerous hinge that was severing children’s fingers and causing permanent injuries. There has also been two cases of Zipp 88 bicycle hubs failing and causing crashes whilst the bike is being ridden.
Injuries due to faulty appliances or other products can leave people with significant scars or on-going medical issues. It’s important that the manufacturers are called to account for their products, especially when they know the product is sub-standard.
In Britain the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and other Consumer Protection legislation says we have a right to buy products that are safe to use and in working order. If this isn’t the case we are entitled to a repair, replacement or a part or full refund.
If you suffer a personal injury caused by a faulty or defective product Slater and Gordon Lawyers offer a free consultation about claiming compensation. Most cases are dealt with on a No Win No Fee basis which means there is no financial risk to you.
