Former Chetham’s Music Teacher Faces Indecent Assault Charges

By Associate, Personal Injury

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that Nicholas Smith, a world-renowned conductor and former teacher at Chetham’s music school has been charged with indecently assaulting a female pupil between 1976 & 1978.

He will appear at Manchester Crown Court on 13 June to face trial.

Chetham’s School of Music has been the centre of an abuse investigation since the conviction of Michael Brewer last year. Following Brewer’s conviction a number of further allegations against former teachers of the school came to light and these are currently being investigated by Police as part of Operation Kiso.
