Turkish holiday resort hotel suffers viral outbreak

By Head of Sheffield, Personal Injury

The latest outbreak of hundreds of British holidaymakers being struck down by a virus at a Turkish seaside hotel reminds us all of the importance of having strict infection control measures supported by high standards of hygiene in places where highly infectious viruses can be passed between many people who are grouped together in a small area such as hotels and cruise ships.

The Sentido Perissia Hotel in Side, Turkey appears to have been affected by an extensive outbreak of guests complaining of vomiting and diarrhoea which has ruined their long awaited and much looked forward to holidays.

Group actions in respect of Food Poisoning on Holiday are now quite common. Poor hygiene along with contaminated food is often a major contributory factor to such Overseas Accidents claims. Where holidaymakers have booked their holidays through a tour operator they are generally covered by the Package Holiday and Package Tour Regulations which enable them to make a claim upon their return to the UK against the UK based tour operator rather than the foreign hotel.

Whether you are affected by an illness in the UK or abroad that causes vomiting, diarrhoea or other symptoms, it is important that you seek expert Personal Injury legal advice as you have to show where the bug or food poisoning emanated from and that it was due to lack of care in terms of infection control measures and appropriate standards of hygiene.
