Our Clinical Negligence Lawyers on continuous learning

Laura Morgan, Paul Sankey and Nisha Sharma attended the Action against Medical Accidents Annual (AvMA) Clinical Negligence Conference on Friday and Saturday, 21st and 22nd June 2013.

AvMA is the UK charity for patient safety and justice which provides free and confidential advice and support to people affected by medical accidents. It works tirelessly to improve patient safety in the United Kingdom.

The annual conference for specialist Clinical Negligence Lawyers provides an excellent legal and medical update and the opportunity for like-minded lawyers to meet and discuss issues that they and the profession face when acting for patients and their families within the new NHS framework.

Once again the Annual Clinical Negligence Conference was a tremendous success and provided high quality training. After a succinct introduction by Peter Walsh, Chief Executive of AvMA there were plenary sessions addressing causation, establishing that sub-standard treatment caused or contributed to an injury and should be compensated, which was led by Mr Angus Moon QC and Michael Horne both of 3 Sergeants Inn.

Further excellent legal talks included the Annual Legal Update by Mr Simon Taylor QC of Cloisters. Break-out sessions covered many issues as varied as radiology, nerve damage, caring for children and young people in general practice and bringing claims for vulnerable patients. The conference was a success with too many valuable contributors to mention here.

Laura, Paul and Nisha returned to their case work re-enthused and even better able to develop their specialism in acting for patients who have been the victims of medical accidents.
