Experience Profile

Jane is a Practice Group Leader within our Personal Injury department in Sheffield.

Her expertise is in employers liability claims both accident and disease and also higher value road traffic accident claims.

She deals with occupational disease claims in the areas of deafness, asthma, repetitive strain type injuries, stress and also dermatitis.

In addition, Jane has expertise in all types of accident claims including manual handling cases, defective equipment claims and cases of exposure to hazardous substances.

Jane has particular experience in dealing with noise induced hearing claims for workers in many different jobs such as those working in factories, call centres or operations rooms and those exposed to firearms and explosive noise. In addition, Jane has had some very noticeable successes in occupational stress claims for individuals subjected to bullying in the workplace resulting in several 6 figure settlements in recent times.

She is also well versed in dealing with police training claims.

Jane trained with a trade union PI firm in Lincolnshire before moving to the Trade Union firm of Thompsons where she remained as an assistant solicitor until she joined the team at RJW, now Slater and Gordon in 2002. Jane was made Partner in 2005 and became a Principal Lawyer in April 2012.

Jane gained an upper second class honours degree in Law from Nottingham Trent University before completing the Law Society Finals exams at The College of Law in York in 1992/3. She qualified as a solicitor in 1995.

Jane has contributed to publications such as the Yorkshire Post providing commentary on legal issues.
