Adele is a Senior Associate in the Media, Libel & Privacy department based in the London office. Her practice covers all aspects of defamation, breach of confidence, privacy, Data Protection, reputation management and harassment.

Adele has been advising police officers and the Police Federation for more than 5 years and has successfully brought claims against many national newspapers, broadcasters, local papers and websites, as well as regional police forces.

Notable cases for police officers:

  • Assisting with the largest libel litigation in Northern Ireland on behalf of Lord Stevens and 19 members of his Stevens 3 Team, which was successfully settled on confidential terms.
  • Acting for an officer in a libel claim against a regional newspaper regarding allegations of sex on duty.  This was successfully settled with publication of an apology, payment of £12,500 in damages.
  • Acting for a police officer wrongly identified as the subject of allegations by the publication of a photograph in which he was identifiable; claims against ITN, the Independent, the Guardian, Sky and the Mail were settled with publication of apologies and payment of substantial damages.
  • Acting for a police officer, who was a co-Defendant alongside the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and being sued for negligence/negligent misstatement and misfeasance in public office.  The claims were successfully defended at trial.

Adele started her career at David Price Solicitors & Advocates, where she trained before qualifying in February 2004. She joined RJW, now Slater and Gordon Lawyers, as a solicitor in February 2008.

She was a member of the team shortlisted for Litigation Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards in 2009.

Adele attended the University of East Anglia where she obtained her law degree. She completed her legal studies at the College of Law in London, achieving a distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

Adele is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association and Lawyers for Media Standards.
