Jasmine is an associate solicitor in the employment law department at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in central London.
Jasmine joined the discrimination unit within the employment team in 2007. She works out of both the London and Milton Keynes offices and has over 7 years of employment law experience.
Jasmine specialises in discrimination, in particular maternity and sex discrimination. She has a particular interest and substantial experience in handling refused applications for flexible working. She notably acted in the successful case of Nicola Adedeji v The Corporation of City of London, advising a House Manager in her claim for unfair dismissal and indirect sex discrimination, and in Lloyd v Michael Shepherd- Smith T/A Homesitters Administration where the claimant won her claims for constructive dismissal, indirect and direct discrimination, harassment and her claim that she suffered a detriment due to her flexible working application.
She also has expertise in redundancy, disability discrimination, race discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination and discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief, as well as whistleblowing, unfair dismissal and jurisdiction issues.
Jasmine deals with clients from a wide variety of industries, from the banking sector to NHS consultants, solicitors, teachers, administrators, public sector workers and police officers.
Jasmine has acted in appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Court of Appeal. She has good experience of advocacy in Employment Tribunals and case management discussions. She has a high success rate in negotiating settlement at an early stage to avoid proceedings.
Jasmine has also has experience of national security matters in employment. She has extensive experience of the special advocate procedure and has participated in the Employment Lawyers Association response to the Government's Green Paper on closed procedures in Civil Proceedings.
In addition to her discrimination practice, Jasmine is also a member of the Military claims team and has advised a number of military personnel on employment related issues.
Jasmine has written many articles on discrimination and on working parent matters and regularly presents to trade union groups on discrimination law and the Equality Act.
