Woman Injured by Car at Pelican Crossing Receives Five-Figure Settlement

20 June 2017

A pedestrian who was injured when she was knocked down by a car at a pelican crossing received a five-figure settlement.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Rachel Coulson is a chartered legal executive and personal injury lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Sheffield.

Settlement: £25,000

What Happened: Our client was crossing the road at a pelican crossing. The defendant driver went through red traffic lights and collided with our client.

Impact: She sustained a fracture to her right knee requiring surgery, soft tissue injuries to her head, foot, hip and elbows.  She also suffered a loss of consciousness resulting in memory loss and psychological injuries. As a result, she was absent from work for 16 weeks.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We brought a road traffic accident claim against the defendant. Liability was admitted for the accident. We arranged for medical examinations with a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and a psychologist in order to value the claim.

Decision: A settlement of £25,000 was agreed.
