Injured Cyclist Awarded Four-Figure Settlement For Collision

28 June 2017

A cyclist injured in a road traffic collision was awarded a four-figure settlement for damages that meant they were unable to work.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Fern Joyce is a litigation executive specialising in personal injury claims at Slater and Gordon in Sheffield.

Settlement: Four-figure settlement.

What Happened: Our client was on his bicycle when the defendant’s vehicle collided with them while turning left into a side road.

Impact: Our client injured his shoulder, resulting in a permanent lump. He had to take three weeks off work, meaning he suffered a loss of earnings.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We obtained evidence and brought a claim against the defendant’s insurers for the loss of earnings and finances to repair his broken bicycle. The defendant admitted liability in the first instance and made a reasonable first offer which the client accepted.  The claim was settled in four months.

Decision: Our client was awarded more than £7,000 in settlement of his claim.
