21 March 2017

accident at work lawyers

A labourer was awarded a six-figure compensation settlement following an accident on scaffolding that left him with numerous injuries.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Tracey Benson is a personal injury Senior Associate at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.

Settlement: £172,500.

What Happened: Our client was an experienced labourer. He was asked to climb onto the back of a lorry and hold steady 50 boards which were balanced on a forklift arm. The boards toppled on top of him, causing him to be pushed off the lorry.

Impact: Our client sustained damage to his femur and consequently had to be treated with a dynamic hip screw. His wrist was also fractured and he injured his left ankle, foot and knee.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: After securing admission of liability from the defendant, an offer to settle was soon received from the other side, having secured medical evidence. We were offered several lower amounts before pushing the defendant to accept a higher offer. The payments assisted with our client’s rehabilitation, ensuring he received the care that he needed.

Decision: Settlement of £172,500.
