09 February 2017

A man was awarded a five-figure settlement when a trampoline accident resulted in extensive injuries.

Slater and Gordon SolicitorAndrew Zajac is a principal lawyer, specialising in serious injury claims at Slater and Gordon in Cambridge.

Settlement: £30,000

What Happened: Our client was training at a local trampoline club.  He was practising a routine under supervision.  On previous occasions an instructor had thrown in a mat in order to prevent injury if he was not landing properly.  However, no mat was thrown in on this occasion and the client landed badly.

Impact: Our client sustained two serious displaced fractures to his non-dominant arm. The fracture was surgically reduced and fixed, which left scarring. Our client continues to experience pain and some reduction of movement. As a result, more strenuous tasks have become difficult.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We pursued a personal injury claim and liability was  initially denied, but we argued the case and managed to secure a five-figure sum for our client who was keen to settle.

Decision:  After negotiation we agreed on a figure of £30,000.
