Serious Road Accident Victim Receives £875,000 Settlement
20 December 2016
A woman was awarded £875,000 in compensation following a head on road traffic collision with a motorist driving on the wrong side of the road.
What Happened: Our client was driving to work when the defendant driver drove on to the wrong side of the road, causing a head on collision at speed.
Impact: Our client suffered a mild head injury and a number of serious fractures to her ribs, collarbone, foot and leg. She had a number of surgeries and was in hospital for over two months.
Our client unfortunately continued to have mobility problems and had not been able to return to work some four-and-a-half years after the accident.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: We obtained interim payments totalling six figures throughout the case in order to fund the therapy and house adaptations she needed.
We obtained expert evidence to ensure the claim was thoroughly investigated and were able to agree a settlement both parties were happy with without needing to go to court.
There was a risk of our client suffering further complications and so we agreed a settlement on a provisional basis to allow her to return for additional damages if she needed more treatment in the future.
