Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Steve Hill is a personal injury lawyer at Slater and Gordon in Manchester.
What Happened: Our client was cycling home along a dual carriageway when he was hit by a car, which had been racing another vehicle and careered off the road.
Impact: Our client suffered multiple broken bones, including his shoulder, hip along with soft tissue damage to his knee, dental injuries and a mild concussive head injury which has affected his memory and powers of concentration.
Further to this, our client also suffered depression and anxiety following the accident.
He attempted to return to work, but was unable to do so and was medically retired.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: Our client suffered a loss of earnings and was unable to pay his mortgage while he was off sick. The defendants refused to make an interim payment, so we quickly obtained medical evidence and issued proceedings at an extremely early stage to force them to make a swift payment.
We obtained reports from a number of different specialists to ensure our client was properly compensated for all aspects of his injuries. We also took statements from nine witnesses, who could comment on how he was before and after the accident, to build a picture of how it had changed his life.
Decision: Settlement of £500,000.
