Paul McClorry is a personal injury lawyer and the head of the travel law team at Slater and Gordon in Manchester.

Nicola Rostron is an associate, specialising in travel litigation at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Manchester.

Settlement: £535,000

What Happened: Our client was a passenger on a motorbike abroad when the motorcyclist lost control and collided with a stationary vehicle.

Impact: She suffered a severe brain injury as well as orthopaedic injuries, significant cognitive problems, facial palsy and some deafness.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We pursued the damages needed to pay for our client’s medical treatment, rehabilitation and further care needs in the future.

This was a complex case, but we were able to prove that English law was applicable and the foreign insurer admitted liability. We successfully negotiated a settlement without the need for a trial.

Decision: Settlement of £535,000.
