Five-Figure Damages For Holiday Cruise Stage Fall
09 September 2016
An elderly man was awarded a five-figure settlement for damages when he fell from a stage whilst on a cruise, ruining his holiday.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Rebecca Gilmore is a personal injury solicitor who specialises in travel claims.
What Happened: Our elderly client was enjoying on-board entertainment while on the first night of a cruise and was invited onto the stage to join in the activities. The stairs were not properly lit and had no hand rail. Coming off the stage, he fell down the steps.
Impact: Our client suffered a bad sprain to his leg and, as a result, he had to spend the rest of the cruise in a wheelchair.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: We brought a claim against the cruise company and achieved a negotiated settlement on a 100 per cent fault basis.
