A personal injury compensation claim award was agreed after a supermarket distribution worker suffered facial fractures in an accident at work.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Nic Collins is a senior personal injury solicitor at Slater and Gordon in Cardiff.

Settlement Value: £27,400

What Happened: Our client was working in a Tesco distribution centre collecting items to be loaded onto a delivery lorry when a colleague driving a cherry picker collided with a stack of goods, causing them to fall and strike him in the face and head.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: There were initial arguments on liability and contributory negligence centred around an allegation that our client should not have been working in such close proximity to his colleague.

The case was complicated as our client suffered an unusual psychological reaction to the accident and there were arguments about possible future losses as well as causation in respect of his psychological issues.

Impact: Our client suffered facial fractures, headaches and psychological symptoms.

Decision: Slater and Gordon successfully settled the claim for £27,400.
