Settlement Achieved for Office Clerk Exposed to Asbestos
27 October 2015
Damages were awarded for an office clerk at a builder’s yard who was exposed to asbestos.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Julian Cason is a Personal Injury Lawyer at Slater and Gordon in Cardiff.
What Happened: Our client’s wife worked as Pay Clerk for a small local building supply company in North Devon, where she was exposed to asbestos being cut within the builder’s yard near her office.
Impact: Our client sadly developed Mesothelioma.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: A great deal of work went into trying to track down the Employer Liability insurer after the home visit to our client. This included approaching retired insurance brokers and former directors/family of the building firm. When this was not productive, there was no alternative but to proceed by way of the government’s 2014 Mesothelioma scheme.
Decision: Settlement of £90,223.55
