Slater and Gordon Lawyers secure settlement for client who tripped on a defective manhole

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Reena Chohan is a Personal Injury Solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Derby.

Settlement Value: Confidential

What Happened:

The client tripped on a defective manhole cover which had been left unrepaired by the landlord of the property of her relative.

How Slater and Gordon Helped:

We managed to argue the case based upon the premise that the client’s daughter, the tenant, would be a witness and this persuaded the Defendants to deal with her claim.

Responsibility for the manhole had been taken over by the water authority however we established that it was still the landlord’s responsibility and our offer was accepted.

Decision:

We tried until the last minute to obtain a settlement as the ATE were not willing to back the claim further. Fortunately for our client, we obtained a successful settlement.
