A Police Officer was involved in a road traffic collision where he was knocked from his motorcycle.
Settlement Value: £105,000.00
Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Jonathan Reid is a Personal Injury Lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Sheffield.
What Happened: The Client, a Police Officer, sustained multiple injuries in a road traffic accident when he was knocked off his motorcycle.
He suffered serious internal injuries but made a good recovery and has been able to return to work as a police officer.
Impact: The key issue in this case was whether or not the Client’s employment as a police officer was at risk in the future, and whether or not he would be classed as being disabled in accordance with the Equality Act, which could potentially have a big impact on his claim for loss of earning capacity.
How Slater and Gordon helped: We obtained six medical reports and put forward a substantial claim for future loss of earning capacity. The Client made an excellent recovery but the medical experts confirmed that he did have some continuing problems. The settlement that was negotiated did reflect a substantial element for the risks the Client faces in the future.
Decision: The Client’s claim was settled to the value of £105,000.00.
