Woman Receives £25,000 Compensation after Road Traffic Accident

11 September 2015

A woman was involved in a road traffic collision on her way to work and suffered an aggravation of a fibromyalgia type condition.

Settlement value: £25,000

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Nic Collins is a Senior Personal Injury Lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Cardiff.

What happened: The client was driving to work when someone on a moped drove straight into her.

Impact: The client suffered an aggravation of a fibromyalgia type condition. Fibromyalgia is where the body suffers from pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. The client required pharmacological treatments and counselling was recommended against a background of pre-existing treatment that had been received for an earlier depressive disorder.

How Slater and Gordon helped: The settlement included a substantial element of possible lost earnings relating to a business the claimant was trying to set up but which had no trading history of delivering income. Here we had nothing by way of a pre accident earnings record but simply had to base the claim on projections in a business plan which had been prepared in support of an application for a bank loan to set up the business.

Decision: The claim was settled in favour of our client and £25,000 compensation was awarded.
