Clients Cleared of Indecent Assault Allegations
15 September 2014
Slater and Gordon Lawyers UK helped two clients in two separate cases where serious allegations of indecent assault had been made.
In the first our Lawyers successfully represented a school child accused with other class mates of inappropriately touching a female member of the school whilst on school premises.
At Trial we were able to show that the Police had not properly investigated the allegations and that a basic examination of the scene of the alleged incident, which the Police failed to conduct, would have shown that the it was not possible for the incident to have occurred as the complainant had alleged.
We fully prepared the client for Trial and called a number of witnesses to support the defence. The charge against our client was then dismissed by the Court at the conclusion of the Trial.
In a separate case a senior businessman who had been arrested and interviewed following an allegation of indecent assault made by a middle aged woman. This was said to have happened in a busy shop.
Slater and Gordon Lawyers were able to obtain CCTV footage and contacted a witness who had not been interviewed by the Police.
The evidence that this led to directly contradicted the complainants’ version of the events. We accordingly then made detailed written representations to the investigating officers following which the investigation was discontinued and no further action was taken against our client.
