Catalogue of Medical Errors Results in Injury Misdiagnosis

03 June 2011

A man suffered many cuts all over his body following a road traffic accident.  Despite all the injuries he was not referred to a hospital for a check up on his injuries. After complaining of constant irritation to his wrist he was finally booked in for a scan which confirmed that some fragments of glass had been retained.  He underwent an operation to resolve this. After complaining of further pain to his shoulder it was discovered that glass was also retained there meaning another operation was required. Following this discovery our client made a clinical negligence claim as he felt the care he had been given was inadequate. The NHS trust admitted liability for failing to x-ray our client’s wrist and shoulder and the claim was settled with help from our expert clinical negligence solicitors for the sum of £10,000.
